A quantum program is a sequence of gates.
We search for an equivalent sequence that costs less.
An autonomous search agent explores circuit rewrites. Your browser runs the work on its own CPU, looking for cancellations, simpler phases and cheaper gate sequences.
Every result must preserve the computation. A replayable rewrite trace and an independent comparison of the complete circuit operation make the discovery inspectable.

Field notes.
What is my device actually doing?
It runs a bounded beam-search agent inside a Web Worker. The agent explores valid algebraic rewrites of a quantum circuit. A verifier replays the trace and compares the complete input and output operations. The research fixtures are small programs chosen to make that process inspectable.
Where does the quantum part come in?
The programs being optimized are quantum circuits. Your device uses classical computation to find a more efficient version. This prototype does not run on a quantum processor. AI-assisted quantum circuit optimization is an established research area; PHASEPUNK's proposed contribution is distributed discovery with verifiable work and fee-funded rewards.
How does a discovery become a reward?
At launch, a coordinator would publish tasks and baseline costs. A new proof must pass verification and belong to an eligible holder before it earns a contribution score. Collected creator fees would be allocated according to those scores. Replaying a fixture or submitting a duplicate would not earn additional rewards.
What works today?
The local circuit search, replayable proof export and receipt verifier work in your browser. The network coordinator, holder verification, treasury and on-chain reward settlement are not connected. This prototype demonstrates the mechanism, not a quantum-computing breakthrough or live earnings.
What does the gate-cost score mean?
It is the research engine's declared optimization objective: controlled gates and T gates carry more weight than simpler single-qubit gates. The comparison baseline only cancels adjacent inverse gates. A lower score is not a measured hardware speedup, and these fixtures do not establish an advantage over production quantum compilers.
Can I stop the node?
Yes. Pause Node stops the search. It also pauses when the tab is hidden and stops when you leave the page. The search runs for a bounded session, then exports its result. World motion has a separate pause control and respects reduced-motion settings.
